This sucks.

This broke within 5 minutes of me using. Followed directions perfectly and it worked great until about 5 minutes in it quit spinning. You can hear the motor turning but there’s no actual action making the twisting motion. Would not buy this again. Sucks.

Low quality materials and manufacture.

The construction quality of this product is extremely poor. The various sub pieces do not stay together under moderate use. For example, hand grip may separate from twisting mechanism, but it can be easily snapped back in place, however, it is not secure and will easily separate under moderate strain.I am African-American and have type 4C curly hair. I use this for twist outs, which are sort of like locks, but you un-twist them afterwards. The device is reasonably effective at twisting my hair after washing. However, during use, the two subunits detach unexpectedly, and the quality of the plastic seems quite breakable.

Faulty machine

It didn't work, was broken on arrival. Waste of money and time. Only 1 side twisted and it also stops after a few seconds.(without anything in the clamps). 2 stars for the added accessories only.

Take Your Time. It Works.

This will work if you take your time and use smaller sections of hair. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. I use it on my grandson's hair which is thick and curly. I have arthritis in my hand so twisting the strands was painful. This made it easier and he loved his hair once we finished.

nice

I’ve been experimenting with this automatic braider set (with included comb and clips) for a few weeks—here's my honest take:What I Love:The concept is clever—you clip two sections of hair on each side, flip the switch to twist, then wrap together effortlessly. It’s powered by 2 AA batteries (not included), so it’s portable and lightweight.Comes with helpful extras: a steel rat-tail comb for prepping and 5 crocodile clips for sectioningWhat to Watch Out For:It works best on long, straight hair. Curly, thick, or short hair frequently slips out, and some users report tangling or poor braid formationThe build isn’t the sturdiest—several reviews mention it feeling “cheap” or breaking early. It’s louder than expected—some describe it as “twice as loud” compared to other braid toolsFinal Verdict:If you have long, straight hair and want a quick way to twist or two-strand braid, this is a fun and easy-to-use gadget, especially for light styling or DIY crafts. But if your hair is thick, curly, or you expect polished braids, it may not hold up well or deliver the sleek results you want. Still, at around $14, it’s worth trying for casual use—just go in with realistic expectations.

Great for Locs Retwisting

I have thick and long locs. I've been growing them for roughly 6 years and they're down to my lower back.I also suck at retwisting and can never get them tight enough with my fingers. For those with a lot of hair and/or suck at retwisting, this tool is for you!Once you part your hair, grab two strands and rub your locking gel of choice on the new growth. Then, just put both strands in the notches and press up on the red button and watch the magic happen. The loc will be twisted tight and up to the root. Then press down and get your 2 strand twist. Finish the twist with your fingers and a rubber band.My only caveat since my hair is so long and thick, sometimes it's just easier to do one strand at a time. It also sometimes wraps around the top red notch where you place your hair, but I'm chalking that up to me not quite getting the position right.I used this tool for the first time last night and I already adore it and will be recommending it to my other family members with dreadlocks. This does take 2 AA which are not included, so make sure you have a pair of you wanna use this thing right out of the box.

Works way better than I hoped for a great price

Got this on a whim because I figured if it broke after 1 use that was totally fine at the price. This cuts the time it takes me and my partner to do my hair down from 7-10 hours to 2-3. I have VERY thick 3b/c hair that is down to the small of my back when stretched and it is a lot to twist by hand. it's worked great the last 3 re-twists we've done. I do use bands at the base of each of my sections to keep everything looking neater longer, and I think that helps this tool work better. when I tried using the tool for larger sections without the band, the result was less neat than I'd like. I'll update when I know how long the motor holds up!
